About Us

In early 2009, Congress directed the Federal Communications Commission (f c c) to develop a plan to expand broadband connectivity to un-served and underserved areas of the country. Officially released in March 2010 the National Broadband Plan, part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, aims to bring broadband access to all Americans.

Broadband.la.gov is an extension of these efforts to get broadband internet to the masses. Through this site, we hope to educate Louisianians about the different types of broadband internet available, the benefits of having broadband internet, and the efforts that the Louisiana government is making to spread broadband internet across the state. We want Louisiana to be excited about the new opportunities and experiences made possible by having high-speed internet.
